Welcome to the Health Developer Network

The Health Developer Network is an NHS Digital website that contains technical information, software tools, source code and data that will be of interest and use to software developers who are designing and building software for use in health and social care.

The website is divided into seven distinct zones to help you navigate the website quickly and easily. You can also search across the whole website by using the search box at the top of the page.

Library

Contains technical articles describing a wide range of systems, services and data used in the health and social care sector and a range of software development topics.

Downloads & Data

Contains tools and source code to download. Provides access to data sources and data services.

Test Centre

Contains testing tools, test data and testing guidance.

Learn

Contains development tutorials, technical how-tos and case studies on the design and development of systems.

API Hub

Contains an index of nationally defined APIs, including messaging, document and ReSTful APIs for both national systems and to support local integration.

Community

Links to online forums and sites to get involved in the community.

These pages provide options to developers who have existing health apps they would like to see on the NHS Apps Library. It also provides options for those who are interested in the library or have an idea for a health app that they’d like to develop.
